Hotham Resort Mountain Review | Victoria | Australia
Просмотров 7 тыс.Месяц назад
Situated atop some of Victoria's highest mountains, Hotham proudly holds the title of the state's powder capital and stands as the sole upside ski resort in the southern hemisphere. Perched along the Great Alpine Road at an elevation of 1,750m, the central village serves as a gateway to the resort, with 80% of its ski trails nestled in the valleys below. Hotham is home to an unconventional expe...
We Hiked To The Niseko Summit

Hiking and riding from the summit of Niseko has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, thankfully this year in March I would find myself in Niseko for the first time and it was everything I had ever wanted in more. Come along as we hike the 400ft to the summit which then unlocks a 2,000ft powder run. #niseko #hirafu #hokkaido
Who got THE MOST SNOW In North America
Просмотров 1893 месяца назад
The 23/24 winter season was the polar opposite to the 22/23 season in by way of the fact that there was far less snowfall across the whole country. I mean, this is to somewhat be expected as the 22/23 winter season smashed resort records across the west, with the likes of Alta and Mammoth Mountain both seeing more than 900 inches off snow. In this video we are going to take a look at which reso...

Most Beautiful Ski Trail at Sierra at Tahoe | California
I had a chance to ski Snowbird last season, and it's a great mountain; but northern California's best mountain - Olympic Valley (Squaw Valley), has more interesting terrain. I was surprised that Snowbird couldn't best Squaw (yeah, my opinion) given all the Utah ski area hype.
woke upspeak
Seems more of a personal opinion video than facts. Should be a disclaimer for that. Also Geto is in Iwate, not in Yamagata.
Going to Park City for a birthday trip, and my first time out west in March 2025. Thank you for this video. Helps out a ton in learning what's in store for us Green/Blue riders.
Falls Creek is really great. My favourite in Australia
This is great. Good to see a bit of effort has gone into the production. Much schmicker than some of the other videos.
Thanks Ed 🙏
Going to go this season, but this is a great tour of the resort!
Thank you! We love Park City and it really is a HUGE resort which will take days to explore.
❤🎉😮...
Just when you thought animal planet taught you everything you need to know about Australia, you find out it looks like Vermont! Who knew?!?
Vermont still has some vertical on Australia, we are more like North Carolina
@@snowstash looks very similar to where I am in western NY
Crazy! The chair lift goes around the other way compared to the US
Matches our driving 🚗
@@snowstash and your toilet flushes!
Love working up their as a foreman running the lifts and enjoying amazing POW. Did a lot of digging up there in the 2022-2023 season and well worth spending 31 nights up there for road closure including a 5 night road closure. Thanks and keep enjoying the POW
Wow I’m headed to Kokusai this coming winter very excited now
You will have a blast! Such an incredible resort.
this is why people hate snowboarders ,they should charge you cat-fees the way you're ploughing snow downhill. lame
The place is so crowded!! The picture @ 2.07 is both bases, every morning. You're almost better off getting a leisurely start, rather than rushing out, only to wait in line for 45 minutes. Keep your head on a swivel.
This video got me excited but as a Hokkaido local you’re kidding yourselves with these numbers. Anything south of Aomori would get 8-10 meters max. Rust is about 10-12 meters and Niseko/ Kokusai/ Kiroro is about 12 - 14 meters.
great resort. went in 2023, snow abysmal tho. skied HV all week. 1 lift only. All week !! and it was super patchy down the bottom and Slalom gully so mogully with awful man made snow rubbish. not enjoyable. gotcha and orchards and blue ribbbon naturally shut. going again tho and as i write, the snow is a fallin' !! still like more tho. need 1 m or more to come
Thanks for your comment Jim, the snow last year certainly wasn’t the best :(
“Drop in” lmao
I went as a 13 yo in 1992 AND I LOVED IT. Have always wanted to return. thank you for your review.
I bet the snow in 1992 would have been fantastic
I think last 2 years the weather has been warmer. I dont think people can ski in Sept unless its colder than normal.
Hey I’m in this video
Oooohhhh where abouts?
when was this taken
Great vid!
Thank you 🙏
Blue Cow is also an "upside down ski area" and has been so since 1987. Admittedly it has merged with Perisher, which isn't up side down. But the Blue Cow area of the resort still is.
Good point! Its so easy to get off the train and start riding.
You really don’t know Japan resorts… let me tell you after 20 years of being here, only one of these is in the top 5
ok then what are on top 5 ?
That's actually not bad snow cover for late September
also a secondary beginner/intermediate terrain course located near the central building at the top of the basin
I went there for the first time with a bunch of friends. Had a great day. Lessons and instructors are awesome. I recommend hiring your equipment from nearby town. We spent 3 hours just to get our stuff. It was really busy!
Hey what is the best time for snowmobile ride?
Mid August, we don’t think you can ride them yourself but can go on a snowmobile tour with a guide.
Can I use cash at this place?
Yeah, cash and card. Card is always easier now a days and the resort is super remote so best to not risk it.
@@snowstash best to not risk it by taking cash? Or you mean take both?
Take both to be safer
@@snowstash thanks mate. So a 7 day pass is to be used in 7 consecutive days? Or 7 days of whichever days you choose to use?
Hotham is the best!! Extreme zone and HV laps all day baby! 🎉
Thanks Matt!!!! We love Hotham nearly as much as you do.
Which month of the year was that? How is the snow condition around end March?
We visited on the 8th of March this year. Snow last till end of March but the beginning is much better.
Australian skier that mainly does Thredbo and occasionally Perisher. Really want to go here to test my advanced and expert riding skills.
It’s worth the hike 👌
Buller is definitely the weakest of the vic resorts, bet it won’t even have snow in 20 years. It would be a great resort if there was consistent snow conditions.
Valid points, I think their snowmaking systems will keep them running but it’s sad when a large portion of the resort is closed mid season.
Victoria I find better then NSW due to how you get access to multiple resorts there in Victoria included in the epic pass! Nice summary to, my family are all staying up at Hotham for a week this holiday! (i come all the way down from Sydney!)
We do too, the resorts in NSW are pretty cool but nothing beats home! Have a blast this season 😀
@@snowstash Thanks! I went to the opening weekend but it was closed. I mainly go cause Cousins live near the Mountain. Despite it being closed I still had a blast Mountain Biking!
Blue Ribbon is truly the best lift when it is open!
Honestly, it really might be the best chair in Australia after a good dump of fresh snow.
Last year in 2023 it was open after a massive snow storm early July, best skiing I had that whole year.
@@snowstash iternational poma at falls is amazing on snow days
I love Hotham! This year will be my third season visiting. 2022 was fantastic, although last year wasn't as good. Really looking forward to this season.
We love Hotham too, last year was sad all round once the heat in August arrived. Happy to see a fresh coat of snow across the resorts this morning.
Cool. Thank you. Nice summary. I'll see how much I remember.
Thank you ☺️
As a local,I would pick Mtn Rose
We would too, Mt Rose is hard to beat, thankfully it’s not on the Epic Pass which keeps it local.
That’s a nice back run, where abouts is this one ?
I guess it’s near top of eagle express
I live just outside of Sun peaks and absolutely love it. Only problem is they don't get as much snow as other ski resorts
just fuckin go!!!
No matter what resort in Japan it’s the same as the rest of the world. You have to be in the right place at the right time. Skied all these many times and it can vary a lot. Lotte Arai this year when I was there was icy and pretty average. Geto Kogen was pretty good but it gets better and worse depending on timing.
Kiroro, my Hokkaido hometown resort! Kokusai and many smaller resorts nearby. Always a fun drive to Rusutsu and Niseko too!😊
Will it be open by mid-December?..
Do they have any terrain parks? If so, any comment on them in terms of what they offer and skill level they cater to?
They had one main terrain park on the Zephyr side of the resort, nothing insanely major but would accommodate mid level terrain park riders.
There are 3 main ones and sometimes more, Pondo has a variety of jumps, rails and boxes best for everyone, Badlands is mostly the same just on the other side, and a mega park under Zephyr with 20' jumps sometimes with gaps or rarely a halfpipe.
That was awesome bro.. I usually only snowboard Japan and New Zealand, but I’m definitely gonna check this one out… With my daughter who turned 5 and started her skiing lessons in thredbo last year and this year coming up… after seeing your video… I will definitely look at booking perisher next year… thanks so much for this info… Jason M
Perisher is certainly a great resort, nothing compared to Japan or New Zealand but for a local mountain it’s great.
Hey mate, looking at a trip to Japan from Aus and hoping to get some skiing in. Furano looks amazing, but would you recommend the trip to someone who has only skied a few times?
100% Hokkaido is exceptional even for beginners. Lots of amazing green runs which have awesome views as well.
Utah has to be topping the list!
Love this video, glad you fixed the audio 🎉
'fingers gave me the fingers' 😁 hey, dust on crust it's ok .
